It’s almost impossible to record and share all of the stories and amazing things that happened during the prayer week…but I know that it always builds our faith to hear what God’s doing, so here are a few choice nibbles!
One of the main things we have seen happen in the prayer weeks are the significant relationships and connections that form. Through our friends at Beth Rapha (a rehabilitation centre/community we are connected to…and love) we met a young man called Shaun. Below is his part of his story which he said I could share. This was the man that opened our week of prayer – just reading his story, you will see how significant that is. We continue to believe for redemption and young men walking away from gangs in Manenberg. Yes Jesus!!
One of the other key relationships formed in this week was between our butterfly girl and Fusion-friend and an awesome mother figure who connected for the first time. One mother heart met a girl in need of a mother figure, the result was beautiful. Most of you will have seen the movie clip with our butterfly girl and her time in the prayer room, but if not, here’s the link…please click!
More of that story to follow in my next blog hopefully!
The slightly more frustrating reality we experienced during the prayer week was the gang fight. Gang fight broke out an hour after we started praying and peace was called a day after we finished praying. Is this a coincidence? I really doubt it…each of our prayer weeks have had gang fight as a part of it and yet we continue to hear God speak his fiery protection around us; the picture we had at the beginning of the week was a ring of fire surrounded the People Centre where we were praying and that fire spreading out into the community.
The question in my mind is – what now? While we bang on heaven’s doors for breakthrough in hearts and lives of gangsters, what is our response in the physical to the very present gang reality.
What does Fusion’s authority look like? What does it mean to stand in the gap? What does it mean to be overcomers? What does it mean to be peace makers?
We are praying into this piece of our work. Keep praying with us and share any revelation ..please!! But continue to pray for us as we fight for the one, as we try to love one person out of addiction, love one person out of a broken relationship, love one person out of a gang…for they will become the army that will rebuild the broken walls.
“Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord…So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.” Ezekiel 37
As always, if you’d love to hear more about Fusion, if you’d love to pray more specifically, if you’d love to support us as an organisation, we love partnerships! Please get in touch (firstname.lastname@example.org).
